Obituary

Richard (Rick) Henderson Hull, Jr., 84, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2025.

Rick was born to Richard and Eleanor Hufford Hull on April 12, 1940, in Kingsport, TN.  He remained in Kingsport until he left for Nashville to attend Vanderbilt University.  He later moved to Knoxville and finished his Statistics and Industrial Engineering education at the University of Tennessee.

In his youth and adulthood, Rick was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed collecting photography and sports memorabilia and traveled miles (domestic and international) to attend major Golf Tournaments.  He spent more than 25 years in leadership with the U.S. Postal Service and the latter part of his career as a professor at the University of North Florida and Florida State College Jacksonville.  He was greatly admired by his peers and beloved by his students.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hull and Eleanor Hufford Hull, and brother, William Wythe Hull.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Donna Hull; sons, Richard (Dick) Hull (and Kate), Lance Hull (and Michelle), Brooks Studier (and Dennis), Nicolas Studier (and Joyce); grandson, Brady Hull (and Ashley); granddaughters, Kendall Thombury (and Brady), Madeleine (Maddie) Hull, and Lauren Hull, grandson, Jackson Studier, and granddaughter, Eliza Studier; nephew, Todd Hull (and Donna); niece, Tanya Bevill (and Ken); and long-time friend, Ted Hopkins.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the dedicated and loving care provided by so many during the last few years.  Special thanks to Erin Toner, Diane Hall, Deidra Nelson, Krista Mills, Taylor Flansburg, Catherine Williams, Nisha Williams, Wachovia Benjamin, DeDe Blair, Daren Russell, Mae Burrows, Loo Fleurant, the Horne family, and the Azalealand Nursing Facility.  This group provided care beyond expectations and were such a blessing to Rick and the family.  We can never fully express our thanks for being alongside us on this journey.  God bless you all.

The family would also like to express their appreciation for the support and friendship of our many friends and neighbors of the Hidden Hills Golf Community in Jacksonville, FL, and The Landings Community in Savannah, GA.
