Richard Morgan Hicks
Rincon- Richard Morgan Hicks, 74, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Memorial Health.
The Chatham County native was a member of Port Wentworth United Methodist Church. He was a 32 Degree Master Mason, York Rite at the Frank F. Baker Lodge #46 in Garden City. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, where he held many offices over the years and was a reenactor all over the Southeast representing the Ogeechee Rifle Reenactors.
Richard was a 1962 graduate of Robert W. Groves High School, and attended Savannah Vocational School, Savannah State and Armstrong State, studying criminal justice and business management.
He began working at Stone & Wester, then Sears & Roebuck, Hercules Power Co., Savannah Sugar Refinery and CSX Railroad, where he retired as an engineer. After retirement, he went to work for Southeastern Auto Auction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R. & Bernice Bevill Hicks; and his brother, Thomas Bevill Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Youmans Hicks; daughters, Lori Ann Velasquez (Jose) and Janet Louise Stephens (Tony); grandchildren, Kimberly Morgan Turner Simpson, Stephen James Turner, Rebecca Ann Velasquez, Shelby Paige Stephens Thornton, Cody Adam & Chase Adam Stephens; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Olivia Simpson and Oliver Pierce Simpson; and two nephews, Michael and Jason Hicks of Alabama.
Visitation: 11am -12 noon Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 12 noon Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the funeral home chapel.
Interment: At A Later Date
