Richard Joe Higgins
Rincon – Richard Joe Higgins, 79, passed away January 2, 2017 at Candler Hospital.
The Michigan native retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years then working for the civil service. After retirement he was employed at Wal-Mart in Rincon as a greeter. He enjoyed fishing and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Higgins; daughters, Lana Marie Skiavo (James) and Lisa Hollingsworth (Lee); grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Skiavo, and Rebecca Copeland; great-grandchildren, Allison Dickerson and Ryliegh Dennison; sister, Joann Bolt; brother, Thomas Higgins.
Graveside funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
