Richard Nizzi
Stillwell, GA – Richard Nizzi, born in Bevier, Missouri on June 23, 1932 passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Effingham Care Center. He was 82 years old.
He graduated from Bevier Missouri High School, a veteran of USAF Korean Conflict, and attended Armstrong Junior College and Savannah Vocational.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, served on the Church Council, and many church committees, and was a member of Adult III Sunday School Class.
He retired from Savannah Machine & Shipyard Co. and Roger Wood Foods. He was a member of the American Legion Post #209, International Association of Machinists Lodge #23, and life member of Historic Effingham Society.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas John Nizzi and mother, Irene Tiller Nizzi Wiggins; 6 brothers, Thomas, Leon, William, James, Robert, and Austin Nizzi; and 1 sister, Joyce Nizzi DeVore.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lena Shearouse Nizzi; children, Gary Michael Nizzi (Ann), Sheri Lynn Nizzi Posey (Robert), Thomas Richard Nizzi, Charlotte Ann Nizzi Bridges (Hal); grandchildren, Gary Michael Nizzi, Jr. (Jenn), Matthew Harold Nizzi (Brittany), Christopher Robert Posey (Tommye), Heather Lynn Posey North (Matthew), Harold Joseph Bridges (Mary), and Jennifer Leigh Bridges; five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Earl Shearouse (Margaret); and sister-in-law, Minnie Shearouse Wilder; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Cavanah officiating. Pallbearers will be Al Wilder, Tommy Morris, Scottie Hendrix, Johnny Perkins, Ralph Gnann, and Charles Hinely.
Interment will follow in Stillwell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 353, Springfield, GA 31329.
