Rincon - Richard Lee "Rick" Simonin, 50, died December 29, 2009 at Memorial Health
after a valiant battle with cancer.
He graduated from Butler High School in Huntsville, AL and then earned a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Forestry from Auburn University. He was always active in sports
starting in little league baseball and football programs and was on the Butler High School
baseball team. Later, he coached and assisted his sons, Jared, Kolby, and Ashby's sports
teams and Shelby's fast pitch softball teams. At one point in his career, he owned his
own Forestry Consulting Service. He was the Chip Mill Manager for Fulghum Industries.
He also served on the Effingham County Industrial Board.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldo and Lavera Simonin, Bernard and
Dottie Breese, and his first wife, Linda Janiece Roden Simonin.
Survivors include his wife, Ginger, four beautiful children, Jared, Shelby, Kolby, and
Ashby, and a precious granddaughter, Blaire Janiece. He cherished and delighted in his
children and was very proud of their accomplishments. Also surviving are his mother,
Patricia Simonin; father, Verne Simonin and step-mother, Mary; sister, Renee Metcalf
and husband Johnny all of Birmingham, AL; his in-laws, Walker and Marie Dyals of
Waycross; brother-in-law, Chris Dyals and wife Janna of Rincon; nieces and nephews,
Matthew and Christopher Metcalf, Lindsay, Zachary, and Bethany Dyals.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Rincon with
funeral services following at 3 p.m.
The family is preparing a memory book and invites anyone with a picture or memory they
would like to share to bring to the funeral.
Interment will be in Effingham Memorial Gardens.

N. Columbia Ave., Rincon, GA 31326.
