Garden City-Richard Jowers Youngblood, Sr., 81, passed into Heaven's glory on July 20, 2013. He was one of ten children of the late Herbert Cecil Youngblood and the late Gladys Jowers Youngblood.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Harvey Youngblood; his son, Richard Jowers Youngblood, Jr.; brothers, John D. Youngblood of Ridgeland, SC and Michael P. Youngblood of Rochester, NY; sisters, Cynthia Dersch of Atlanta and Mary Galloway of Pooler and many nieces and nephews.
He had a long career as an iron worker, having worked for Savannah Iron and Fence Co. for 30 years prior to running his own construction company for 10 years before retiring at the age of 60. He was and avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and garden. Sharing his produce with friends and family gave him great joy.
The funeral will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
