Robert Martin (Bob) Fischer, Sr.

Robert Martin (Bob) Fischer, Sr - 81 – Rincon – Bob Fischer passed away at home February 1, 2012 after a long illness. He was a 1948 graduate of Carlisle Military Academy and attended Newberry College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was Measurement Superintendent for the Savannah Gas Company for 15 years. He was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He was a former Effingham County Commissioner and was active in many civic and service groups in the county including the Rincon Volunteer Fire Department, Jaycees, Lions Club, Marine Rescue Squadron and Optimist Club. He was an active in the Rotary Club and was named an Honorary Rotarian by the Rotary Club of Effingham County. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Rincon. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry M. (Hank) and Bessie Mae Fischer and sister Betty Jane Swift. He is survived by wife Ricky Fischer, sons Marty Fischer (Jill) and Randy Fischer (Joyce), daughters Joely Stewart (Wes) and Micheala O'Conner (Ryan), two grandchildren Kelly Fischer and Addison O'Conner, niece Sherilyn Murray and two nephews Jonathan and Eric Swift.
Memorial services will be 12 noon Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church.
