Robert Jackson "Bob" Grier, Sr., of Pooler, Ga., also known as "Sarge" to his friends, passed quietly into his eternal rest on the morning of February 9, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Georgia Louise Grier and his daughter Glenda Kay Welsh.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, of which he was so very proud.  He served his country with pride and honor and retired after almost 34 years of service.  He had his own business for many years in the city of Pooler, Grier Equipment.   He was a loving husband and father, a good and honorable man, a man of integrity.  He was loved by all who met him.  He leaves behind a brother Fred S. Grier, Sr. (Elizabeth Grier) and a sister, Margaret Grier Duggar (Tommy Duggar).  He leaves two sons, Randell Scott Grier (Colleen Grier), Robert Jackson Grier Jr. (Tammie Grier),  a son-in-law Patrick Welsh, Sr.,  who was like a son to him,  and two daughters, Deborah Grier Alldredge (Jesse Alldredge), and Judy Grier Murrell (Gene Murrell).  He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Jessica Smalley (Timothy Smalley), Derek Alldredge, Jenniffer Miller (Sam Miller), Rachel Grier, Rebecca Grier Govier (Josh Govier), David Collins (Jessica Lee), Dana Collins (Jason Lamb), Jackson (Jake)  Grier, Daniel Grier, Kaitlyn Grier (Andrew Waters); and 11 great grandchildren, Elizabeth Smalley, Abigail Alldredge, Alexander Alldredge, Aidan Alldredge, Haley Collins, Abrianna Wall, Alliyah Wall, Gabriel Wall, Randall Miller, Nicholas Govier, and Luke Waters.  Grandpa will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 5:30 – 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment services with full military honors will be Thursday, 1:00 PM at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
