Savannah - Robert Wayne Grissom, Sr., age 82, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9th, 2014. Bob was born February 16th, 1932 in New London Connecticut. He grew up in Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in Korea.

Upon his return from service in 1953, he married Alice and the two remained happily married for 61 years. When Bob wasn't enjoying family, hunting or camping, he was busy building or fixing something. "There wasn't a tool he didn't own or know who to use expertly – he was always quick to lend a hand, offer advise or share a story. He and Alice loved to travel and looked forward to every opportunity to hook up his camper, load up the kids, and hit the road. Some of their best memories where the trips to Nova Scotia and Maine. Even after the kids were grown, his passion for travel and adventure remained strong. If there was a road to it, Bob and Alice were open for the adventure of traveling it.

He retired from Meco Inc. in 2002 after thirty years; he began his a career in 1955 with Texaco.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Alice J. Grissom of Savannah, his brother, "Short" Grissom (Mary) of Richmond Hill and his four children: Sherry Campbell of Savannah, Robin Cebada (Tony) of Pooler, Chip Grissom (Nancy) of Alpharetta, and Suzanne Harney (Craig) of Savannah; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
