Rev. Robert Irving Hoyle
"Papa" Hoyle went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2016 at the age of 95. Born in Saranac Lake, NY to Lois A. (nee Hoxie) and Clayton S. Hoyle, he is survived by his brother, Burton, 96, his daughter, Tina (Mrs. Robert) Glover of Savannah, GA, his son, Gary (wife, Sandy) of Boone, NC, his six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and Margie Peterson, whom he loved as a daughter in Christ. A disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees in WWII, he was married for 64 years to the late Harriett (Kelly) Hoyle, his help-meet through over 50 years of ministry. They served Presbyterian Church in America congregations in Underwood and Dodge, ND, Asheville and Charlotte, NC, Pooler and Garden City, GA where he was the only Pastor Emeritus of the PCA denomination. For 15 years he was Director of Hebron Colony (men) and Grace Home (women) in Boone, NC, a gospel based residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation ministry. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one grandson. He was interred in Hillcrest Cemetery West on March 18th. There will be a memorial service at 11:00AM on March 26, 2016 at Chapel in the Gardens Presbyterian Church in Garden City, GA.
