Robert E. Jenkins, Sr.
Rincon – Robert E. Jenkins, Sr., 84, passed away December 10, 2014 at Westview Nursing Home.
He was born November 14, 1930 in Savannah, Georgia to Inez Price Jenkins and Henry W. Jenkins, Sr. He graduated from Savannah High School and served in the U.S.A.F. as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rincon and the Sojourners Sunday School Class. In the past, he served as a trustee and an usher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, Joe, and Charles; two sisters, Alice Ripkin and Margaret Winter; niece, Carolyn Winter; nephew, Joshua Winter; and grandson, Christopher Rowe.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Fulton Jenkins; a daughter, Kay Jenkins; two sons, Bobby (Robin) and Russ (Heather); one granddaughter, Emma Jenkins; grandsons, Wade, Brandon, Justin, Eli, and Luke Jenkins, and Mitchell Rowe; and 5 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Westview Nursing Home.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Rincon followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church Cemetery in Darien.
