Bloomingdale/Dublin-Mr. Robert L. Lovell, Sr., 85, died on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at
Dublinair Nursing Home.
Mr. Lovell was born in Chatham County and was preceded in death by his first wife,
Mazell Lovell and his second wife, Lillian Cail Lovell. He was a well known piano tuner
and was known as the "piano tuner for the stars" at the Savannah Civic Center. He was a
member of the Ash Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Shirley Perry (Randall) of Dublin, William H. Lovell, Sr.
(Harriett) of Jesup, Robert L. Lovell, Jr. of Greenbriar, TN and Gwen Harper (Albert) of
Savannah; daughter-in-law, Christine Lovell of Greenbriar, TN; brother, Van "Buck"
Lovell of Bloomingdale; sister, Mary Jo Blaylock of Savannah; step-children, Ronnie
Cail of Faulkville, Peggy Hilton of Bloomingdale, Raymond Cail of Centerville, Jennifer
Howard of Richmond Hill and Ernie Cail of Reynolds; ten grandchildren, many
great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation for Mr. Lovell will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the
Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral to honor Mr. Lovell's life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in
the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery on
Hwy 280 in Bryan County. Mr. Lovell's grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers. The
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jordan Kessler, Ronnie Cail and Ernie Cail
