Mr. Spilliards was born to John D. and Lillie Malphrus Spilliards. He attended local schools and worked for National Gypsum Company for 37 years. He enjoyed Nascar, bowling, a good sunset at the beach and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Lillie Spilliards and his daughter, Linda Spilliards Dowd.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Oliver Spilliards; sons, Robert E., Jr. (Sylvia) and Timothy Craig (Silvia); grandchildren, Joey Arrington, Chelsea Spilliards, Timothy C. Spilliards, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Arrington, brother, James (Margaret), Marvin (Peggy) and sister, Fay Tremelling; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
