Obituary

Garden City-Mr. Robert E. Wilder, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Wilder was born in Waycross, lived in Guyton and Savannah, and moved to Garden City in 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Lulieana Wilder; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Wilder; his brother, John W. Wilder, and his sister, Mary Helen Wilder. Robert served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 39 years. He is a former councilman for Garden City and a Past Master of Frank F. Baker Lodge # 46. He served on the West Chatham YMCA Board of Governors and was a charter member. Robert was a deacon and longtime member of Jasper Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Earlene Wilder; sons, Ed Wilder, and Tim Wilder (Kristi); grandchildren, Kayli and Abi Wilder, and Brianna Whiting; sisters-in-law, Dot Wilder and Sue Hurt, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
