Meldrim - Mr. Roland "Cannon Ball" Cannon, Sr., 75, passed away on Tuesday at his son's residence under the care of Hospice Savannah, after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Cannon was born in 1933 and raised in Savannah. He later moved to Atlanta in 1967. Cannon Ball served the Savannah and Atlanta community as a paint and body man for over 50 years. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Luvinea Myrick and James Dewy Cannon; brothers, Dewy Lee Cannon, William Henry Cannon and Claude L. Cannon; step-son, Doyce Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Ida Ann Cannon of Conyers; sons, Roland Cannon, Jr. of Savannah, Michael L. (Lisa) Cannon of Meldrim; step-children, James Lee Cannon of Conyers, Diane Burdett of Stockbridge, Darrell Hendrix of Savannah, Craig Hendrix of Ellabell, Robbie Hendrix of Savannah, Ramon Hendrix of Blitchton, Bonnie Hendrix of Jacksonville, Florida; mother-in-law, Pauline (granny) Hall; sister, Betty Claudine (Cecil) Reese; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Cannon; grandchildren, Brandy Michelle Jenkins, Kimberly Diane Cannon; step-grandchildren, Shannah Lane, Sheree Sanders; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
