Mr. Ronald James Carney, 72, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his home.
Ron was preceded in death by three children, Laverne, Adam, and Caroline, three brothers, Danny, Carl, and Roy, as well as two sisters, Debbie and Laverne. After serving his country in the United States Marines for four years, the family experienced a short time in a remote part of Alaska, which has always been a source of great memories. He retired from Jimco Services as a Supervisor after 32 years, where he made many life-long friends. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking, and took great pride in his tomato crop each year, enjoying bragging right on many of his huge tomatoes. He and Suzanne mastered the art of raising chickens and always had an abundance of eggs. You could always count on a batch of Kolaczki cookies every year around the holidays from his Yugoslavian grandmother's recipe. But his favorite thing was spending time with his family and grandchildren, and he use to make it a competition to find the biggest turkey at the grocery store on Thanksgiving.
He will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Suzanne Carney; children, Ronald J. Carney, Jr. (Alma) and Christine Amador (Aronde); grandchildren, Emily, Seth (Delisha), Ayden, Anina, Christiana (Phillip), Isaac (Sierra), Mariana (Madison), Matthew, Meredith, and Luis; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Gerald, James, Jed Rey, Aubriella, Glena, Adelaide, Ezekiel, and Elena; siblings, Sandy, Mike, Wayne, Wally, Debbie, and Mona. as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Many of us that know him can only imagine his last words being Hasta la vista (see you later).
The visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The funeral to honor Ron's life will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at 3 p.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 8819 U.S. Hwy 301 in Glennville, GA.
