Obituary

Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Hulsey
June 25, 1952 – November 6, 2025

Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Hulsey, 73, of the greater Savannah area, passed away peacefully at his home on November 6th following a wonderful day spent golfing and sharing laughs with his best friend, Robert Riley.

Born on June 25, 1952, in Richmond, Virginia, Ronnie lived a full and joyful life rooted in family, friendship, and community. Ronnie was raised in Garden City where he was a graduate at Groves High School in 1970. He served proudly in the Georgia Air National Guard from 1970-1977. He then worked at Seaboard Coastline (CSX Railroad) and ultimately built a long and successful career with Union Camp (later International Paper), where he worked diligently before enjoying a well-earned retirement.

Ronnie was known for his deep love of sports, especially basketball, where his talent and passion left a lasting mark. A renowned basketball player in his youth, he later dedicated much of his life to coaching and mentoring others, inspiring countless young athletes with his humor, wit, and competitive spirit.

Beyond the court, Ronnie found peace and happiness outdoors—fishing, golfing, and spending time with the people he loved most. His laughter, generosity, and storytelling made every gathering brighter.

Ronnie is survived by his three beloved children: Heather Hulsey Bohannon and her fiancé Keith Gay (and her children Lyndsey Rhode, Luke Bohannon, and Lexie Bohannon), Sam Hulsey and his wife Olivia Hulsey (and their children Raylynn Hulsey and Colter Hulsey), and Ben Hulsey and his wife Ashlyn Hulsey. He is also survived by his nephew, Keith Woods and his wife Joy Woods.  Great-niece, Kaylan Moore, great-nephews, Brandon and Bradley Woods, along with many cherished cousins and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Meron Darell and Alieze Fletcher Hulsey, his sister, Diane Hulsey Sims, as well as a nephew, Scott Woods.

Ronnie's legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the joy he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  The memorial service to honor Ronnie's life will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
