Pooler-Rosa Lee Purvis Durden, 88, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away with dignity and peace at Oceanside Nursing Home, Tybee Island, Georgia on September 5, 2014.
Mrs. Durden was born in Collins, Georgia, in 1925 to Robert Lee and Emmer Bertha Cowart. She married James H. Purvis in 1942 and later married Roy Lee Durden in 1968. Rosa Lee's saucy humor was experienced by all who knew her. She loved her children dearly and loved to make people laugh. In the same way, she loved gardening and watching beautiful flowers grow.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, 9 brothers, a grandson, Terry J. Purvis, and a son-in-law, M.J. Hooks.
Survivors include her children, Emma Hooks, James E. Purvis (Cheryl), and Margie Cannon (Danny); two sisters, Edna Mae Outen and Imogene Funk; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 12 noon on Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
