Garden City-Mr. Roscoe Mims Newman, Sr., 61, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home.
Roscoe was raised in Garden City, graduated from Groves High School and was a sheet metal mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking, building clocks and tables from cypress. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kelly Newman, Sr. and Gladys Audrey Hodges Newman; brothers, Jimmie Lee Newman, Sr. and John Kelly Newman, Jr. and a sister, Molly Kate Newman.
Survivors include his son, Roscoe Mims Newman, Jr. "Rossie"; two grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jack Berne Newman & Dorothy, and Joseph Prince Newman as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery.
