GARDEN CITY: Mr. Roy Joseph Barras, 80, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. Barras preceded in death by his parents, Augus A. Barras and Hattie M. Loncon; brothers, A.J. "Skeeter" Barras, Gaston J. Barras, Wilma J. Barras and Ernest Barras and sister, Elma Marie Hurst.
Mr. Barras was a very loving and caring father. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 501 South Coastal Hwy in Pt. Wentworth. He retired from the ILA Clerks and Checkers Union and was a member of the Board of the ILA Board of Retirees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Freida Barras; children, Duval M. Barras (Julie), Rene Jude Barras (Michele) and Nicole Margaret Beaver; grandchildren, Duval Michael Barras, Jr., Aimee Michele Barras, Joseph Stanley Barras, Brenton Ashley Rowan and Bryce Evan Beaver; sister, Barbara Ann Colson (Ed) and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 6, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road
