Roy Gene Rountree
Savannah – Roy Gene Rountree, 69, passed away June 9, 2016 at his daughter's residence.
He was born on June 2, 1947 in Savannah, GA and moved to the family farm in Egypt, GA at the age of 12. He graduated from GA Military High School, GA Military College, and GA Southwestern College. He served in the U.S. Army in the Airborne Division as a 2nd Lt. and was a retired Geologist for the GA Department of Natural Resources.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius Greene Rountree and Ruby Valaree Thompson Rountree.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Chris) Hulsey of Savannah and Neil (Holly) Rountree of Hahira; grandchildren, Brinson and Ansley Rountree; very close cousins, Janet Myrick and Diane Barefield both of Savannah; and several cousins.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Elam-Egypt Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Remembrances may be given to Elam-Egypt Baptist Church, 2166 Egypt-Ardmore Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
