Springfield-Mrs. Ruby McGowan Bragg, 97, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Effingham Extended Care Facility.
Mrs. Ruby was born in Telfair County to the late Burley & Annie McGowan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, M.W. Bragg as well as three sisters, Myrtle Steadham, Pearline Harden and Jessie Mae Brown. She was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and was active in the U.M.W.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joy & Mitchell Weitman; granddaughter, Amy W. Strickland and her husband, Trey; grandson, Jon Weitman; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Emma and Jonah Strickland; sister, Ruth Hattaway of Wichita Falls, TX, and a number of nieces and nephews
The visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 in Dent Hall at Springfield United Methodist Church.
The funeral to honor Mrs. Ruby's life will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Springfield United Methodist Church. Rev. Earl Seckinger and Dr. Jerry Roe, Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jon Weitman, Harry Shearouse, Jim Simmons, Francis Palmer, Bennie Edenfield and David Atkins. Melissa Starling and Keith Martin will provide the music. Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
