Obituary
Midway-Mr. Rufus H. Stokes, 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana from injuries sustained in a fall.
Mr. Stokes was retired and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy on Guam during or after World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stokes. He was an avid fisherman and pool player
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha & John E. Wade, Jr. of Bloomingdale and Wanda & Larry Meuse of Greenville, KY; grandchildren, Jonathan Wade, Brian Wade, Lance Wade, Beverly & Mickey Wilson, Natalie Meuse, Lawrence Meuse, Jr., Jason O'Neil, Tommy Hunter and Marian Colburn; great-grandchildren, Kristen Wade, Gracen Wade, Lane Wade, Sarah Maloney, Mickey Wilson, Jr., Jonathan Wood, Autunm Wood, Zoie Meuse, Allie Meuse, Savannah Hunter, Zack Colburn, Jarod Colburn and Trace Colburn; siblings, Kimbel Stokes, Jimmy Jackson, Angie Shuller, Willy, Jasper, Allen and Loyd Shearouse.
Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
