Rincon – Russell Alan Sowers, 67, passed away July 24, 2024 at MUSC. He most enjoyed spending time with family, affectionately called PeePa and Grandpa by his grandchildren.

Russell was the proud owner of Ebenezer Rose & Garden Nursery and served as a past president of the Savannah Rose Society.  Born in Ohio, upon honorable discharge from the ARMY, he put down roots in Effingham County over 40 years ago. He loved roses and plants, cycling, boating, fishing, arranging culinary art, drawing, and painting. He attended First Baptist Church Rincon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Dale Sowers.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Zeigler Sowers; children, Melissa Ann Sowers, Travis Wayne Sowers, Justin Alan Sowers (Misty), and Allison Sowers Grubbs (Jared); 6 grandchildren, Ethan, Jonah, Elias, Ezra, Isaac, and Isabelle; his mother, Patricia Sowers; brother, Wayne Sowers; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Rincon Cemetery.
