Bloomingdale-Mrs. Ruth M. Hester, 71, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
Mrs. Ruth was born in Clarkesville, GA to the late Donnie & Monteen Bowen. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, David Morgan Bowen and Donnie Lee Bowen, Jr. She loved spending time with her family and she attended South Newington Baptist Church. She had worked at Williams Seafood for 20 years and was employed for the last 15 years in the cafeteria at Savannah Christian School. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Ladies Auxillary, for 34 years, where she served as the state vice president for 4 years and also received many awards. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, including going to the mountains between Christmas and New Years every year.
Survivors include her husband, Harold P. Hester, Sr., whom she married in 1963 in a Methodist Church in Thunderbolt, GA; daughter, Cheryl Sanderlin, and her husband, Billy; son, Harold P. Hester, Jr. "Hal"; grandchildren, Courtney Sanderlin, Harold P. Hester, III "Trey" and Jeffrey Lustig; siblings, Doreen Ferguson, Ora Belle Martin, Lucille Mitchell, Jerry Bowen, Melvin Bowen and Billy Bowen and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
