Springfield – Ruth Janice "Jan" Stokes Callison, 70, passed away May 18, 2017 at her residence in the loving arms of her husband and surrounded by her family.
The Chatham County native had lived in Bluffton for 33 years and during that time was a member of Indian Hill Baptist Church. "She was a woman of God, and Angel on Earth to all of those around her. She put everyone before herself and always made sure you got some of her wonderful homecooking-no one ever went hungry at her house. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her flowers, fishing, and The Young and the Restless. She was a soul satisfier through her love, cooking, kindness, and care. Through her memories, she will continue to satisfy us. She will always be affectionately known as "Mama Jan"."
Survivors include her husband, Franklin Cail Callison, whom she would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on May 29th; children, Tammy Callison (Joseph Beecher), Lori Callison Webber (Barry), and Jody Cail Callison (Christine); sister, Debbie Stokes; brother, Edwin Stokes; grandchildren, Ashlee Moore (Thomas), Cody Callison, Michael Green, Dalton Callison, Nicholas Green, Matthew Callison, Rachel Hagan; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Kaiden, Colton, Xavier, Easton, Ariana.
Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
