Mr. Sammy Glenn Ausley, 79, passed away on July 15, 2026 at his residence, under the care of his family and Hospice Savannah. Sam was born on July 20, 1946 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late Knox Hob and Nora Topps Ausley. He was raised in Angier, North Carolina.

Sam was a long-time member of Port Wenworth Methodist Church in Port Wentworth, GA. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years, hauling tankers, flatbeds, and heavy wide loads. He was also a Port Wentworth Volunteer Firefighter. He was trained as a rescue and crash victim extrication specialist, and was trained through the Georgia Extrication School for Jaws of Life.

Sam was a past Master Mason, a member of Frank F. Baker Lodge #46 in Garden City, GA, and was also a Scottish Rite and Alee Temple Shriner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his siblings, Edward Ausley, Bob Ausley, Hazel Wood, J.C. Ausley, Jean Carron, Gerald Ausley, and Lindell Ausley.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Linda Delane Dubose Ausley of Rincon; his daughters, Nancy Ausley of Louisburg, NC and Jennifer Blitch (Jud) of Stilson, GA; a son, David Ausley of Rincon; a brother, Cecil Ausley of North Carolina; a sister, Ruth Barbour of North Carolina; and grandchildren, Cason Collins, Kayden Ausley, Ally Blitch, and Brantley Blitch; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Port Wentworth Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Port Wentworth Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Boyles officiating.

Burial will follow in Rincon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kayden Ausley, Cason Collins, Jeff Carter, Jackson Kiley, Ronnie Drake, and Craig Duncan.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Seekers Sunday School class of Port Wentworth Methodist Church.

Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, WEST CHATHAM CHAPEL, 901 West Highway 80, Pooler, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
