Mr. Sammy Daniel Hickox, 76, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Candler Hospital.  Sammy was born in Screven, Georgia and had lived in Bloomingdale for a number of years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Rance Hickox and Maude Hickox Taylor, a daughter, Renee Wynn, a grandson, Eli Hickox, and his sister, Latrelle Phillips.  He retired from Local 709 Iron Workers, where he was part of constructing bridges and buildings throughout the United States, as well as time at Plant Vogtle.  He enjoyed fishing, cooking and feeding others, and driving his grandchildren around on the golf cart.  He will be remembered for being stubborn and a man of few words.  Survivors include his children, Jonathan Hickox (Traci), Ashley Hickox, Samantha Shadle (Slade), Jessica Schoonover (Daniel), and Shelbie Johnson (Reece); grandchildren, Randy, Brittany, Alexis, Kristina, Madyson, Evan, Brandon, Haiden, Sadie, Mallory, Benjamin, Abigail, Sullivan, and Ryder; brothers, Landall Hickox (Myrtice) and Michael Hickox (Lana), as well as several nieces and nephews.  Sammy's wishes were to be cremated without a service.
