Samuel Wertz Zipperer
Guyton – Samuel Wertz Zipperer, 83, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011.
The Effingham County native was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and retired from Effingham County Board of Education after 32 years of service including the last 12 years as School Superintendent. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Herman Zipperer and Lessie Lee Nease Zipperer.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Anderson Zipperer of Guyton; children, Keith L. (Cindy) Zipperer of Rincon, Jeffery A. (Susan) Zipperer of Cairo, and Lisa (Woody) Jaudon of Rincon; brothers, Herman J. Zipperer of Jacksonville, FL and O'Neill E. Zipperer of Rincon; 4 granddaughters, Mandy (Chris) Coleman, Sarah & Rachel Zipperer, and Hannah Jaudon.
Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at Springfield United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
