PICTURE
Sara Curtis Gonzales
Rincon – Sara Curtis Gonzales, beloved wife of Daniel F. Gonzales and devoted mother of Cynthia L. Felipe, George P. Gonzales, and James L. Gonzales died on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Memorial Health. She was 87 years old. Born in New Brockton, Alabama on March 14, 1923, she was the last surviving of the 10 children of George and Mae Bradshaw.
Always looking for adventure, she found her way to Honolulu, Hawaii as a WWII civil service employee where she met that tall dark and handsome man who was to become her husband of 64 wonderful years. She followed her curiosity for knowledge and culture as the wife of a career Air Force Master Sergeant. From Alabama, to Hawaii, Texas, Arizona, California, Delaware, Washington, and Georgia…Sara saw and lived so much more than she dreamed possible as that little girl who hoed the peanut and cotton fields of her family farm.
Sara touched many people through her volunteer work with those who were less fortunate. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Springfield, Georgia. She enjoyed quilting, travel and hounding for unusual rocks. Sara could hold her own as a practical jokester and could argue a point with the most competent of lawyers. She was a pill to be sure.
Sara will be missed by many. But most of all she will be missed by her husband, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with funeral mass at 10 a.m.
Internment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1952 Hwy. 21 S., Springfield, GA 31329
