Ellabell-Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Strickland Cannady Crane, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Sarah was born in Daisy, GA to the late Marvin and Lennie Hodges Strickland. She was also preceded in death by husbands, Tommy Cannady, and Frank Crane; brothers, Louie, Ernest, Dwight, Leon, Marcus, Virgil, and Clyde Strickland; sister, Mary Lee Hendrix, and a step-son, Tim Crane. She was an active member of the Ellabell United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday School, served as choir director, and had held several offices of the church and U.M.W. She was an avid student of the Bible, loved her family, and was a wonderful seamstress.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy (Charlene) Cannady, Marilyn (Tim) Page, Mary Anne (Johnny) Kicklighter, and Lennie McGowan; step-daughters, Deborah (Tom) Ebbing, and Deanie (Sonny) Alexander; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Cletus Strickland, and Ann Strickland, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Ellabell United Methodist Church located at 3113 Hwy. 204.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Ellabell United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sarah will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Joe Leatherwood will be officiating. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers, and members of the Inez Smith Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
