Obituary
Sarah K. Monro,72,of Pineland,SC. passed away February 24,2012 surrounded by friends and family.
She was born February 1,1940 in Savannnah,Ga. the daughter of the late Carl and Agnes Thomas. She was the youngest of their seven children. She spent the first part of her life in Effingham County.
The 1950's took Sarah from rural Georgia to San Francisco and eventually onto Europe. She graduated from the American Academy in 1958 while in Nuremburg,Germany. After returning from Germany,she went on to work for the New York State school system for ten years. In 1984, she returned to Savannah,Ga. to be closer to family and friends.
Over her remaining years, she enjoyed the peaceful country. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by Milton and Traci Monro of Bellevue,NE; David and Amanda Monro of Zebulon,NC and Edward Monro and Wendy Brigman of Bunn,NC.
She was an amazing mother to her three sons and an incredible grandmother to her ten grandchildren.
The Thomas and Monro families would like to acknowledge her extended family consisting of Bruce and Debbie Steed of Guyton,Ga.and children; Edward and Alice Matthews of Pineland,SC. and children.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3,2012 at the Strickland Funeral Home in Rincon,Ga. The service will be presided over by Darren Thomas.
Her remains will be laid to rest near her mother,in the family's plot at The Corinth Church in Effingham County.
