Ms. Sharon Derea Flakes, 71, of Ellabell, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at her home.

Sharon was born in Savannah, Georgia and was preceded in death by her father, Edsel Lamar Tapley.  She was a member of the Brooklet First Baptist Church and was employed at Fountain Insurance Company for 18 years.  She enjoyed cooking, especially at Thanksgiving, was selfless, and had a big heart.  She will be remembered for being a wonderful mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Melanie Thompson (fiancé-Randy Cook), Crystal Deal (Joey Hurst), Harold Flakes, III and daughter-in-law, Stacey Flakes ; former husband and friend, Harold Flakes, Jr.; grandchildren, Timothy Thompson, Jr. (Amber), Maranda Thompson, Daci Flakes, Logan Deal, and Dathan Flakes; great-grandchildren, Brendan Thompson and Carly Derea Whetsell; mother, Ethelene Thomas; siblings, Jerry, Charlie, Vicky, Greg, Kim, and Terry; step-grandchildren, Morgan & Reagan Deal; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 3 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.  The celebration of Sharon's life will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Bob Crosby officiating.
