Mrs. Sherma Ree Smith, 97, of Jesup, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 after being surrounded by her family for the past week.

Sherma will be missed by her daughter, Sharon Longworth; son, Greg Smith (Pam); 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 67 great-great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Holland and Willow Capp Turner; husband, Walter Smith; children, Gary R. Smith, Lana Nesmith, Walter Vicki "Red" Smith, Roma Jean Teigue, James Smith, and Reuben Smith; grandchildren, Kim Turner, Robert "Bobby" Frizzell, Diane Hamilton, Lacey Longworth, Henry Longworth, and Alexis Russell; siblings, Sadie Smith, Jimmy Turner, Charlton Turner, and Louise Davis.  Sherma was born in Homerville, Georgia and was a long-time resident of Savannah, Georgia.  She was a 50 year member of Sharon Park Church of God, and retired from the K-Mart in Savannah after 30 years of service.  She will be remembered for being a loving mother and a phenomenal grandmother.  She loved Jesus, was a constant prayer warrior, and was dedicated to her faith.  Sherma loved visiting with her family, was a great cook and homemaker, enjoyed shopping, and dressing up in dresses and heels.  She is going to be missed.

The visitation will be on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral to honor Sherma's life will be on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.  Pastor Wayne Owens and Pastor Julie Stanley-Mack will officiate.  The active pallbearers will be Ashley Smith, Richard Smith, Ronald Outen, Ralph Zipperer II, Robbie Teigue, Steven Teigue, and Marc Wiley.  The honorary pallbearers will be Roger Smith, Amberlyn Wiley, and Jenn Smith.
