April 10, 1943 – March 7, 2025
Guyton- Sherron Tuten Hodges, 81 entered the gates of Heaven and into the arms of Jesus on March 7, 2025.
Sherron was born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up on Commonwealth Avenue in Port Wentworth, Georgia. She graduated from Groves High School in 1961. She met the love of her life, Wendell, while he was visiting his family on Commonwealth. They were married June 11, 1961 enjoying 64 years together.
Sherron worked in the banking industry in her early years. But she knew her greatest calling was raising her 3 children and along with Wendell, dozens of foster children in Effingham County. She was a fierce advocate for children with learning differences and difficult situations. She knew her calling and answered it unequivocally with love and kindness for those most vulnerable.
Sherron loved being outdoors, growing beautiful flowers, camping and above all else being with her family. She loved the lord with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robbie and Mary Louise Tuten and her youngest son Charles Wendell Hodges.
Left to cherish her memory and life is her beloved husband Wendell Hodges, daughter Cheryle Hartzog (Eric) and son Michael Hodges (Margaret). Her beautiful grandchildren Zachary, Jessica, Gracie, Lucas and Ashley. And adored great grandchildren Meadow, Charli, Mitchell, Jonah and Eliza.
Sherron, Mama, Mema will be forever remembered, loved and deeply missed.
