Port Wentworth-Mrs. Sherry Sue Blackwelder, faithful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, departed her earthly life on a heavenly journey on Thursday, April 23, 2015.
Her life was one of giving, blessing and song……A stout defender of family and daily witness for her Lord. She was born in Cumming, GA to the late George & Edna Holbrook. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, where she was a longtime choir member, and served in various areas of service. She was formerly employed with Savannah Christian Prepatory School.
Survivors include her husband, Preston "Pep" Blackwelder; children, Preston "Marty" Blackwelder, III, (Lola), and Sherry Gail Blackwelder; grandchildren, Kiersten, Madison, and Aubrie; sister, Frances Miller (Wayne), and several nieces and other family members.
The visitation will be from 2:30 until 3:30 on Monday at the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth with the memorial service to follow at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that desired remembrances be given to the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, 402 Pinehurst Place, Port Wentworth, GA 31407 or the WoundedWarriorProject.org
