Shirlene Y. Owens

Rincon- Shirlene Y. Owens, 70, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at her home.

The Emanuel County native lived most of her life in Chatham and Effingham Counties and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon and the Unity Sunday School Class. She was a devoted homemaker and then worked as church secretary, before becoming office manager for Ivan Allen Company, where she worked until retirement. Shirlene was an accomplished seamstress that loved to travel, especially to the North Carolina mountains. Her smile and laughter reflected her love and joyous spirit.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Larry Owens; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sheri-Lyn Owens; her granddaughter, Sydney Owens; two sisters, Algie Simons and Shirley Youmans; mother-in-law, Corine Owens; sister-in-law Marjorie White and her husband, Bruce White; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1-3 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Rincon.

Funeral: 3 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Rincon.

Interment: Rincon Cemetery
