Mrs. Shirley Ann Mitchell Allen, 83, of Bryan County and Chatham County, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Azalealand Nursing Home.

She was born in Pulaski, Georgia to the late Elwood Mitchell and Bessie Maude Dixon Mitchell.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Allen, Sr., son, Charles Russell Allen, Jr., and siblings, Elouise Mitchell, Irma Alvarez, and Elwin "Fuzzy" Mitchell.  She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill.  She enjoyed fishing, Bingo, playing cards, and scratch-offs.  She will be remembered as being the life-of-the-party, and for loving her family.

Survivors include her children, Gene Allen, Debra Harvey, and Joe Allen; grandchildren, Sherry Horton, Andrew "Andy" Allen, Christian Rumptz, Rhonda Foley, Candice Cox, and Caitlyn Colson; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Pratt Mitchell, Danny Mitchell, Marvin Mitchell, Howard Mitchell, Mary Eva Kirby, Cindy Maner, and Ilene Weatherington, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral to honor Shirley's life will be at 12 noon on Monday, February 1, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.  Rev. David Feldkamp will officiate.  The pallbearers will be Chris Cox, Chris Colson, William Weatherington, Billy Rumptz, Clayton Horton, Matthew Foley, Andrew "Andy" Allen, and Stan Foote.

All CDC and social distancing guidelines will be in place including the wearing of masks (Chatham County Mandate).
