Obituary

Springfield – Shirley Dasher Palmer, 74, passed away April 12, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

The Effingham County native was the Salutatorian of the Class of 1964.  She used her gifts of baking, sewing, and taking care of others while working at the White Dress garment factory in Springfield and then at the C & S / Nations Bank for over 20 years.  She was a member of Turkey Branch United Methodist Church and now at Springfield United Methodist Church where she once volunteered with the Common Bond youth group, was a member of the U.M.W. and the Bible Studies Sunday School Class.  From infancy through adulthood, she was involved in the Effingham County Methodist Campground and its various activities.  She was a faithful servant and volunteer at Vashti Center, the Coastal GA Walk to Emmaus Community, and the Effingham Care Center.  Her love for Jesus, family, and friends was apparent in the way she lived her life and served in various ministries.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Arnsdorff; her parents, Rabun Cook Dasher and Lou Evelyn Zittrouer Dasher; and brother, Mitchell Dasher.

Survivors include her husband of almost 43 years, James Francis Palmer, III; daughters, Tonya Ward (Chance) and Jincy Hinely (Jason); grandchildren, Kiley Brooks (Jared), Sarah-Lyn Saxon (Ashton), Jace Hinely, Brennan Ward, and Jett Hinely; and a number of nieces and nephews.
