Meldrim-Ms. Shirley DuBois Wallace, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at her home.
Ms. Shirley was born in Elyria, Ohio. She loved her church family at Meldrim United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping for bargains and was loved very much by her children. She was preceded in death by her father, Julian Mouzon DuBois, Jr., a sister, Carolyn Marie DuBois and a son, Kenneth Smith.
Survivors include her children, Julian Smith (Robin), Shirl Denise Wolf, Janice Cope (John) and Mark Wallace; grandchildren, Davy, Jamie, Jennifer M., James, John, Amanda, Jennifer N. (Ricky), Tammie, Shawn and Alicia; great-grandchildren, Whitney, Marissa, Dalton, Katelyn, Corbin, Nevaeh, Lilly and Johnathan; mother, Loretta Lewis DuBois; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Kenny Layne and several nieces and nephews. The funeral to celebrate Ms. Shirley's life was held at
3 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Meldrim United Methodist Church. Dr. Edwin Willis and Dr. Rudolph Starling officiated. Music was provided by Ms. Shirley's granddaughters, Mrs. Bonnie Meeks and Mrs. Pat Durrence. Active pallbearers were Kenny Layne, Carey Wise, Braxton Jeffers, Richard Slater, Jimmy McNeely and Ernie Slater. Members of the Meldrim United Methodist Women served as Honorary Pallberers. The burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim.
