Marlow-Mr. Sidney "Boots" Williams, 72 passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010
surrounded by his family.
Sidney was born in Screven County to the late Barney and Pearl Williams. Sidney served
in the Marine Corp for a short time. Once honorably discharged, Sidney pursued a career
in law enforcement with Chatham County Police Department and as Chief of Police for
Hiltonia Police Department. Sidney then went into business for himself operating heavy
equipment.
During Sidney's life, he married Ann Hester (deceased) and had 4 children. Sidney, once
retired, enjoyed fishing, traveling, hunting, beekeeping, panning for gold, and spending
time with his 4 grandchildren. Sidney was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Sidney was a hard worker and a man of his word. Sidney was a strong man and never
shied away from expressing his thoughts. He loved the outdoors and always loved
working on his personal projects. He was an outstanding individual with a colorful
personality. He will be greatly missed.
Sidney is survived by his 4 children, Sidney Loyd Williams, Jr., Sonya Lynn
Williams-Pratt, Stephanie Lea Williams, and Summer Patterson; brothers, Bobby
Williams, Billy Williams, Bubba Williams, Ronnie Williams and Donnie Williams
(deceased); grandchildren, Seth Patterson, Olivia Pratt, Sydney Pratt, and Annslee
Patterson and a large extended family.
A memorial service for Sidney will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of the
funeral home.
