Sigrun "Ziggy" Martin, born Sigrun Langkopf, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. She was 70.
Born in Gerolstein, Germany, on November 28, 1954, to William Langkopf and Brigitte Braun, Ziggy was eventually swept away to the United States by the love of her life, Anthony "Tony" Martin. Together, they built a life rooted in laughter, love, and adventure.
Quick-witted, fiercely funny, and unapologetically herself, Ziggy had a way of lighting up any room. Her bold spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know her. She could make you laugh — even at the most inappropriate times — and somehow made even the heaviest moments feel a little lighter.
Ziggy loved music, laughter, animals of all kinds, and being surrounded by friends and family. She was the life of the party — always at the center of the circle, ready with a story, a sharp one-liner, or a warm hug. Whether dancing in her husband's arms or laughing with friends late into the night, she brought people together and made them feel at home.
Ziggy was a devoted mother who took pride in her children and the lives they carved out for themselves. In her later years, she shared an especially close bond with her daughter Jessica — celebrating her dreams, encouraging her passions, and joining in for many of life's adventures. She was also a hopeless lover of animals and always made room in her heart (and often her home) for the furry and four-legged.
She is survived by her beloved children, Jessica T. Martin and Anthony T. Martin II; her sister, Karin King; niece Jacqueline (Chris); great-niece Charlotte; her cherished cat, Cafard; her grand-dogs Kase, Kali, Bowie, and Billie; and a wide, loving circle of friends who were more like family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tony; her sister, Ingrid Langkopf; her brother, Uwe Langkopf; and her parents, William Langkopf and Brigitte Braun.
A brief visitation will take place on Saturday, July 26th, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Strickland & Sons Funeral Home in Rincon, GA. An urn will be present for those who wish to stop by and pay their respects. A Celebration of Life will be held in August to honor Ziggy in true Ziggy fashion — with stories, laughter, and love.
In lieu of traditional flowers, the family invites you to
make a donation to your local animal rescue in Ziggy's name,
gift a vibrant plant that can live on in her honor,
or simply show up to the Celebration of Life ready to share a memory, a song, a dance, or a toast to honor her colorful soul.
