Guyton, GA – Sonya Joyce Zarkadas Newman, 64, passed away February 10, 2025 at East GA Regional Medical Center.

The Effingham County native was employed with Grainger Auto Parts for over 30 years and retired from Vaden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Zarkadas, Mary E. Lariscy Rahn, and Lamar Rahn.

Survivors include her husband, Heath A. Newman; son, Jamey Lee Brown; daughter, Jennifer Stanfield; step-daughters, Heather Newman, Starr Newman, and Tori Newman; grandchildren, Ethan Eller, Ashton Eller, Arianna Burrell, Jason Newman, Nathan Jackson, Danger Beasley, Kaliph Moore, Matthew Oliver, Grayson Oliver, John Greiner, Raven Brown Watson, Ethan Brown; 2 great-grandchildren, Brynlee Watson and Pressley Watson; brothers, William Zarkadas (Sherri) and Mark Rahn (Amy); sister, Pam Rahn (Robyn); aunts, Loyce Lariscy and June Gardner;  and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
