Steve Hughes

Rincon – Steve Hughes, 55 passed away February 16, 2026 at Memorial Health.

Born in Atmore, Alabama, Steve was a selfless, honorable, dedicated and loving husband and father who was passionate about his family. He was an avid sportsman, loved golf and fishing, give him a bass boat and fishing rod he was a happy man. He was an honest, hardworking, successful businessman who was humble despite his success, however he remained humble to his core, always proud of his modest beginnings growing up in rural Alabama. He was the proud co-founder and owner of Datum RMS where he was loved by his employees who referred to him as “the guru”.

He was preceded in death by his father, Derick Allen Hughes and his grandfather, Collie Ray Hughes.

Survivors include his wife, Michele Hughes; son, Stephen Christopher Hughes (Kyanna); daughter, Laura Jane Hughes; mother, Marion Elizabeth Shiver Aughtman “Betty”; sisters, Mary Hughes Walker, Lisa Shiver Denham, and Susie Mosley; uncles, Marcus Hughes and Robert Hughes; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that he held deep in his heart.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326. 912-754-6421
