Mrs. Susan McCants Brant, 73, of Rincon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Susan was born on March 6, 1951 in Orangeburg, South Carolina and she and her husband Donald have lived in Rincon for 48 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Rock" McCants and Joan Mewborne McCants. She was a dedicated, loving member of the Goshen United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and the recently built "Brant Pavilion" at Goshen United Methodist Church was named in honor of Susan and Donald. She was office manager from 1984 until 2023 of the Ratchford Law Firm, where she kept Warren Ratchford in line for many years. She poured her heart into her work and her family, and made sure that she never missed an event that involved her children or grandchildren. Mimi and Pop (as many knew them by) could be seen most weekends and some weekdays at ballfields, tracks, gymnasiums, and swimming pools across the state as they watched their children and grandchildren compete. When she was not watching a competition, she was reading books, sometimes multiple books at one time. She loved going to the beach and sitting by the pool with her family. Mimi also liked to make sure that her grands never went without – even if Pop never knew.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald H. Brant, Sr.; children, Helen Reynolds (Daniel), Ashlynn Barker (Pat), and Donald H. Brant, Jr. (B.J.); grandchildren, Addie Reynolds, Trey Brant, Emma Reynolds, Campbell Brant, Cooper Barker, Wesson Lashley, and Carson Lashley; great-granddaughter, Cora Jade Brant; siblings, Robert McCants (Tallulah), Jan McCall (Ron), and Cy McCants (Karen), as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Goshen United Methodist Church located at 107 Goshen Road in Rincon. The service to honor Susan's life will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Goshen United Methodist Church Building Fund.
