Obituary

Susan Elizabeth (Yates) Larimore, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at the age of 70 on Sunday, January 15 th, 2023 after a long battle with COPD.

Sue had a variety of jobs over her lifetime, often making it so she could be with her children. These included test driving cars at the GM proving grounds, caring for others as a certified nursing assistant, running an in-home daycare, being a beloved bus driver, making airplane wing covers at home, working in Real Estate, and even making tons of sandwiches daily for Denny to take to work which were so good he couldn't miss work without everyone being mad they missed their awesome lunch. She was truly a jack of all trades and was always willing to do whatever was needed.

Susie was never without her coffee and Jif peanut butter. She was known as "Mama Sue" in the communities she lived in, a 2 nd mom to so many who needed her. She always had a solution to problems, a fix for things that needed fixing, and was always full of creative ideas. She was a fixer and a tinkerer. A labor of love was her gardens and koi pond. She loved horses, nature, and wildlife, and enjoyed feeding the wild critters in her backyard- sometimes right out of her hand. At Halloween, her favorite costume was dressing up as a witch. She made sure their house was "the one with big candy bars" and always had toys for the kids who couldn't have candy. No matter how she was feeling she wanted to be a part of handing those out each year. When she was a teenager she rode in equestrian competitions, even standing up on 2 horses and jumping them!! She was loved by all who knew her, and everyone felt she had the biggest heart. Sue always had more room at her table and enough food to share, even when she had little. She was a woman who knew what she liked, what she wanted, and how she wanted it. She wasn't very religious but was a strong believer, and used to say "You're as close to God in a field as you are in a church."

Susan is survived by her loving husband Dennis J. Larimore; three daughters Sara L. Galbraith (Randy); Elizabeth D. Collins (Jason); Kathy R. Kentala (Joshua); and four grandchildren Adrian M. Galbraith; Bridgette E. and Vanessa S. Collins; Henry J. Kentala; as well as her sister Leslie VanHollebeke. She was preceded in death by her parents Eric and Doris Yates (Klein), her brother Eric A. Yates, and her sister Adrienne F. Yates.

In place of a funeral, Susan hoped those who loved her would remember her as she lived- happy, stubborn, down to Earth, crafty, and at peace with the world around her.

If you wish to honor her, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the following places that were causes near and dear to her heart: The Promised Land Dachshund Sanctuary; St. Jude's Children's Hospital ; or your local children's hospital.
