Port Wentworth – Sylvester Nease "Big Zip" Zipperer, Sr. ,90, husband of the late Margaret Levy Zipperer, went home to be with Jesus Christ and his loving wife of almost sixty years early Friday, October 17, 2014.

Mr. Zipperer was born on October 12, 1924 in Guyton, Georgia to the late Luther and Lucille Mary Zipperer. He was a member of the Port Wentworth United Methodist Church where he attended the mens fellowship breakfast. Mr. Zipperer was also a member of the Lions Club of Port Wentworth and coached baseball for the Port Wentworth little league. He was a veteran of World War II and The Korean War having served in the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, Mr. Zipperer worked for Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and later retired after forty two years of service. He was a very loving and devoted grandfather who was always there for his grandchildren no matter the hour of the day or day of the week. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rantz Zipperer.

Surviving are his son, Sylvester N. "Zip" Zipperer, Jr. of Port Wentworth his daughter, Cindy Seckinger and her husband, Marty of Guyton; five grandchildren Justin Zipperer and his wife, Crystal, Derrick Zipperer and his wife Lynsey, Kristin Seckinger, Blake Seckinger and Brooks Seckinger; great-grandchildren, Megan, Addison, and Layla Margaret; his brothers, Bernard Zipperer and Dwight Zipperer and his wife, Cathy; his sister-in-law, Alligene Zipperer; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral: Monday at 11 am at Port Wentworth United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gary L. Boyles and the Reverend Randy Nease officiating.

Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be retirees of Seaboard Coast Line Railroad.
