Mrs. Thelma Gomieo Blair, 95, of Meldrim, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at her daughter's home.
Thelma was born in Oahu, Hawaii and had lived in Meldrim for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Coy Blair, a daughter, Judy Blair, her parents, Frank Gomieo and Margaret Perry Gomieo, siblings, Bernard, Irma, Bobbie, and Junie. She attended both St. Anne's Catholic Church in Richmond Hill and more recently, Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pembroke. She was very active in the school system sharing her stories of growing up in Hawaii, including witnessing the attack on Pearl Harbor. She was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary-post 184, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross for 32 years.
Survivors include her children, Charles Blair (Pam), Jeannette Walker (Rocky), JoAn Peterson (Rick), Christopher Blair (Leigh), and Bernard Blair (Sharon); 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral to honor Thelma's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim, Georgia.
