Obituary

Port Wentworth-Thelma Jean Davis Chaney, age 87, of Port Wentworth, GA passed away suddenly on February 6, 2016. Thelma was born on March 19, 1928 in Urbana, Arkansas. She moved to Port Wentworth in 1957 with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, A.C. Chaney, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Marlin Davis, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving is her brother Billy Ray Davis (Betty), of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Thelma was a homemaker. She loved to cook. To her, food was love and she loved sharing it with her family and others. She also loved spending time with her family. She was an excellent caregiver, caring for A.C. during his illness. She loved camping and traveling with her husband, A.C. She was an active member of Jasper Springs Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU, sang in the choir, and served on a number of committees. She attended the Ed Young Senior Center.
She will be missed by her daughter, Gay Tuten (Terry); her son Mike Chaney (Sherri); her four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all who have prayed and supported them during this difficult time. Also, a special thanks goes to Dr. Acuff and the truly compassionate staff of the Memorial Health University Emergency Department.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 8th from 10-11 a.m., and a celebration of Thelma's life will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West on Dean Forest Road in Savannah.
