Thomas E. DeMine, Sr., 89, of Savannah, GA, passed away on March 16, 2021. He was born in Ohio and moved to Savannah at age 13. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He worked in Savannah at Union Bag in 1953, met the love of his life there, Nuna Jean, married her and moved to Atlanta to pursue job opportunities and further his college education at GA State University. Years later, he moved to S.C. to work at Charleston Naval Shipyard. During retirement, he lived in Wrightsville, GA and began working part-time for Rite-Aid Drugs. 1992 brought him back to his beloved Savannah. He loved the beach anywhere but especially Tybee. He was an excellent caregiver to his wife who suffered with Alzheimer's for many years. He moved to Savannah Commons after her death and met Rosa Maria Mendez, they married and remained living there for 7 years, until covid-19 lockdowns took a toll on their health. Tom lived his last year with his loving daughter and her husband. He earned his stars in life by being a good son, a kind, loving father, grandfather (Papa), and great-grandfather. He was a fun loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was a good loving husband, extending both wives lives with his most excellent caregiving. He would do anything he could to help you. He loved literature, to read and to write, and spend his many tales on any subject imaginable. He had a photographic memory, loved crosswords and played a mean scrabble game. He was quick witted, smart as they come and possessed an easy smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, both his wives, his son, Thomas E. DeMine, Jr., son, Charles E. Dowd, and all five of his siblings. Thomas is survived by his son, Edward L. DeMine, (Billie-Jean), of Pembroke, daughter, Linda Bucenec, (Barry), of Savannah, daughter-in-law, Sharon DeMine of Graniteville, SC, 6 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren. All have many fond memories of him. In accordance with his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Meldrim, GA. Remember him with a smile and a donation to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406 or your favorite charity.
